About this Event

In February 2021, The FTSE100 recorded its largest annual increase in the representation of women at the boardroom level and senior leadership positions since 2016. While this is a step in the right direction, The Alexander-Hampton Review found that 2/3 of all senior leadership positions are still going to men; only 5% of FTSE100 CEOs were women in 2020. Women from ethnic minority backgrounds face additional barriers within the world of business; Diversity UK found that over 1/3 of Black female business owners made no profit last year.

As businesses and employees continue to adapt to a more flexible working environment, companies should use this to their advantage to create female-friendly workplaces to ensure parity of women in business and improve productivity.

  • Women are three times more likely to enter the workforce with higher qualifications than men but earn less per hour
  • Narrowing the gender pay gap could add between $12 and $28 trillion to global GDP
  • In 2020, only 10 of the top 1,097 workplace roles in the UK were held by BAME women
  • Over 70% of entry-level roles are occupied by women, but they make up only 34% of middle managers
